Listening, acting, and empowering
For over 15 years, I have been helping people struggling with anxiety and worry, depression, trauma, relationship issues, financial struggles, work-related, or family conflict. When you feel broken, scared, devalued, or stuck. your thoughts may seem like they are in total control of every part of you. I call these 'doomsday-like' thoughts that may pop into your mind like, "you're not good enough", "you don't deserve that", "you should have known" or "you're just a failure". They can make you feel incapable, devalued, and often helpless. There are a few fundamental truths I bring to therapy. First, we are not the thoughts that pop into our head. Second, the present moment is the only control we have. These two short and simple statements have profound meaning that are often kicked aside for what we may think is much more important, the need for certainty. We over-think. We try to figure things out without no avail. If we don't get certainty, we fear the worst will happen. There are times this control hinders us from functioning in our day. We become paralyzed where decisions in our life become debilitating. Not only does it hijack us from being present from a more peaceful state, it can be mentally and physically exhausting. Do we dare stop seeking certainty? It feels necessary and fatal if we don't. Along with many in this world, you would like to live an engaging, productive life with enriching experiences and joy. You are not alone. Reaching out for help is not an easy task. I bring an approach that is centered in integrative, holistic, mind-body focused interventions. My training is rooted in holistic, client-centered principles. I provide individualized therapy that includes EMDR, CBT, Cognitive Process Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, and somatic approaches, i.e. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, trauma-based yoga, and Qigong. I offer compassion, empathetic listening, and a safe space for growth to support healing and positive change.
